Four Spring Decorating Trends for 2013

Elegant, graceful design

Let's be real, having a reason to be elegant and graceful is always nice. So this trend can be welcomed with open arms and serviced by our store selections of different prints and textiles!

Homey kitchens

I feel like us Southerns made this trend trendy. Who doesn't love a homey kitchen? A space doesn't have to be old for it to be homey. Find different elements that make you feel more at home like our florals and other little home accents!

Emphasis on art

Two Ideas for the Holiday

At Design World we love helping you decorate your home for the holidays and all year round! Whether you are looking for a wreath that makes your front door stand out, a tree theme that makes you smile every time you see it, or other pieces of decor that "speak" to you, Design World loves being here for you.

Since Christmas is so close every one is bustling about getting ready for loved ones to visit. Today's blog is about two easy & cute ideas to get your company to smile.

If you have kids coming to your home or are a kid-at-heart, you might like the ideas of lining your front steps or walkway with a few candles. This acts as a "Runway for Santa!" I'm sure Santa would appreciate you trying to make his landing easier!

Yay or Nay: Plate Decorating

Last week's Yay or Nay (here) was about the trending picture frame decorating that's been going around. This week's Yay or Nay still focuses on wall decorations but this time with plates.

If you are a part of Pinterest or have a set of friends that love to change up their home décor often, then you've probably already seen a dozen or so examples of using a mix of eclectic dishes to spice up the walls. 

I can see the pros and cons of this new decorating style. Pro: It gives your walls that interesting element you probably want to bring to your house. Plus, if you've hit the jackpot of unique plates then it's hard to have people you know replicate it. Con: If you have super cool plates, you might want to actually use them instead of tack them up on the wall, especially if they are really unique!

Christmas on the Brain

Yay or Nay: Picture Frame Decorating

If you have Liked any of Design World's Pages on Facebook (which you should!) then you are familiar with the Yay or Nay. It's a fun, easy way to get a feel for what trends in decorating are good (yay) or bad (nay) while also entertaining the fans.

Today is yet another Yay or Nay with a fad that has started to really become popular--decorating with picture frames.

Instead of just using frames to hold precious memories around the house, some people are now using frames as wall murals. There are even people that don't fill the frames with pictures anymore!

So, what are your thoughts? Do you think this new trend is too busy or artsy enough that you want to try?

Yay or Nay: Neon or Neoff?

When I think of "neon" my mind automatically goes to those fun neon signs that diners, bars and some hangouts have hanging outside. However, in today's world "neon" points to bold, in-your-face, bright color. It is used in clothes, paint, home decorations and much more! But, we have to admit, high lighter colors can be a big hit or miss. So our question to you is: YAY or NAY?

Do you think neon works? Is it good in fashion but bad for home decorations? Can you paint your front door a neon and get away with it or is it just too tacky? Is it a decoration turn on or turn off? Neon or neoff?
